COMPLETE TOOL GUIDE

Convert iPhone MOV to MP4 in your browser

Remux a QuickTime MOV into an MP4 copy locally on a desktop. Compatible video and audio are preserved without uploading or re-encoding.

How to use it

  1. Open this tool on a desktop or laptop with Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
  2. Choose one .MOV file from your computer. iPhone HEVC/H.264 video and standard AAC audio are supported.
  3. Review the track summary. Unsupported iPhone Spatial Audio or metadata tracks are skipped safely.
  4. Download the MP4 when the local remux finishes; keep this tab open until the download starts.

Supported input

  • .MOV / QuickTime files from iPhone, iPad and cameras
  • H.264 or HEVC video with compatible AAC audio
  • Desktop browsers with modern JavaScript and enough free memory

Worked example

Convert an iPhone video before uploading it to a web editor, presentation, learning platform or messaging app that accepts MP4.

Limitations

  • This is a lossless container remux, not a quality-improving video encoder.
  • Only one file is processed at a time and the result is held in browser memory.
  • Files approaching 1.5 GB may exceed available browser memory; use a shorter clip if processing stops.
  • iPhone Spatial Audio and extra data tracks cannot be stored in this MP4 output and are omitted.

Troubleshooting

  • Use a current desktop browser and close memory-heavy tabs.
  • If the file is very large, export a shorter clip or lower-resolution copy from Photos.
  • If the result has no audio, re-export the clip with standard AAC audio enabled.
  • Do not close or reload the tab while tracks are being read or the MP4 is being prepared.

Tool-specific questions

Are videos uploaded?

No. The MOV is read and written in your browser. Locrivo does not receive the selected file for processing.

Does this re-encode my video?

No. It remuxes compatible tracks into an MP4 container, so video quality and timing are preserved.

Why are some iPhone tracks skipped?

iPhone files can include Spatial Audio or auxiliary data tracks that MP4 cannot store. The standard video and audio tracks remain in the result.

Why do I need a desktop?

The input and output are held in browser memory. Desktop browsers generally provide more memory and sustained processing power than phones.

Can I convert several files at once?

Not yet. Process one file at a time to keep memory use predictable and make the result easier to verify.

QUICK ANSWERS

Before you process

Can I use this mov to mp4 converter online without uploading my input?

Yes. This tool is labelled On-device, so the selected input is processed in your browser and is not sent to a Locrivo processing API.

What happens if the browser cannot process it?

The tool shows a readable error and stops. It does not silently fall back to a cloud upload.

Why can performance differ between devices?

The browser is doing the work locally, so speed and practical file size depend on available memory, CPU and browser capabilities.
